Disney is expanding its Frontierland area at the Magic Kingdom to include a new section themed after the Cars films. The development has necessitated the removal of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island from the park map.
The new land, styled after Route 66 and the American Frontier, will host two main attractions. One will be a demolition derby-style ride featuring an animatronic school bus, and the second will be a rally car race across a mountain track.
Work on the expansion has already commenced, with Disney recently showcasing a miniature model of the Piston Peak area.
