Disney has announced the arrival of a rare albino wallaby joey, named Quartz, at the Jumping Junction habitat in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The joey is characterized by her white fur and pink eyes, a result of a recessive genetic trait inherited from both of her parents.
Quartz resides within the Jumping Junction area at Conservation Station, which opened this past spring as a walk-through home for the park's kangaroos and wallabies. The habitat replaced the former Affection Section and is themed around Australian wildlife.
Animal care staff are providing dedicated care to the joey. Disney notes that while Quartz is frequently visible, guests should be aware that as a young joey, she may occasionally remain inside the pouch while exploring the environment.
